Dean, Faculty of Physiotherapy – Consultant in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Dr. Amro Hossam El Din Kirkisawi is a distinguished physician, academic leader, and rehabilitation specialist with extensive expertise in physical medicine, sports medicine, and aviation medicine. He holds a clinical doctorate (MD/PhD) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, alongside advanced degrees in Sports Medicine and Business Administration.
As Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy, he has played a pivotal role in shaping academic programs, strengthening faculty capacity, and advancing rehabilitation services in Sudan and beyond. He is the founding Secretary-General of the Sudanese Association of Consultants in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and serves as Regional Chair of the Sudanese Society for Neurorehabilitation (SSNR – UK).
Dr. Kirkisawi has contributed significantly to clinical innovation, including the development of the SYAP Protocol for COVID-19 rehabilitation, and has led initiatives in neurorehabilitation, spinal cord injury management, and early rehabilitation in conflict zones in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
He is an active international speaker, having presented at FIFA World Cup medical events, global rehabilitation congresses, and national scientific conferences. His expertise spans sports medicine, neurorehabilitation, and aviation medicine, where he serves as a certified Aviation Medical Assessor and contributed to establishing the first Aviation Medicine Unit in South Sudan.
Beyond academia, Dr. Kirkisawi is engaged in community health awareness through media initiatives such as the White Code program, and continues to advocate for integrated, multidisciplinary rehabilitation approaches that address both medical and societal needs.
